The United States mandates a machine-readable contract on its real estate industry — RESO’s Web API and Data Dictionary, compulsory for association-owned MLSs under NAR Policy Statement 7.90. The United Kingdom mandates nothing. It has no MLS, no shared schema, no certification programme and no standards body with any authority over listings at all.

The UK averages 42.8. The United States averages 31.2. On agent-readiness it is 59.8 against 29.2, and twenty-four British organizations produce more than double the machine-facing signal of forty-five American ones. The best-scoring organization in global real estate is Ordnance Survey at 68.5, and the most agent-ready organization across all four markets is HM Land Registry at 93.3 — a government registry, ahead of every portal, vendor and proptech in four countries.

This is the control group that makes the American finding mean something. Same language, similar market structure, comparable technology sector — one with a mandated standard and one with nothing. The unmandated market publishes more, publishes better, and is twice as ready for machine consumption.
