Every time a low agent-readiness number is published, the reply is some version of those companies are young, or unsophisticated, or not really API companies. So the industry where none of that applies is scored here: 2,877 developer tools and DevOps companies — the people who write the specifications, sell the linters, run the gateways, and build the tools every other industry uses to build its APIs.
They are the best in the catalog. Developer Tools & DevOps ranks first of twenty-five industries, averaging 34.1 against a catalog average of 22.5, with a third the Minimal-band rate of everything else tracked and the highest single score recorded. And it publishes idempotency at 2.8% — against the artificial-intelligence industry’s 2.6%. Consent, 4.4% against 3.9%. Agent-Native among its Exemplars, 2.6% against AI’s 5.2%, which means on that measure the best industry in the catalog is worse than one of the weakest. Six of the organizations at the centre of how this industry describes and governs APIs sit in the Human-Only band.
