The Speedinvest API Portfolio
Every Speedinvest company that ships an API, scored the way a machine reads it — a European seed book that learned to publish contracts before it learned to govern or prove them.
About this paper
I read Speedinvest’s portfolio the way a machine reads it — not the pitch deck, the evidence. Speedinvest’s public portfolio resolves to hundreds of companies in my catalog, and 56 of them ship a public API I could pull, parse, and score on the same rubric I apply to Stripe. This report is about those 56, because the interface is the part of an early-stage European company you can actually inspect before the narrative catches up to the reality — and in Speedinvest’s case the interface tells a specific story about what a seed-and-Series-A book looks like when it has learned exactly half of the modern API discipline.
The headline is the shape of a European early-stage book rendered in evidence. Speedinvest’s 56 API providers are excellent at being found and merely competent at being trusted: discoverability averages 91.2 — the highest facet number in this series, everyone ships a spec — but the portfolio holds exactly one exemplar (Kraken, 71.5), clusters 32 of 56 companies in the developing band, and averages a composite Kin Score of 49.1. The agent story reads well at 46% agent-native and 76% MCP coverage, until you open the artifacts and find the MCP is almost always derived from an OpenAPI, not hosted by the provider — only three companies ship a genuine first-party agent surface. This is a book that learned to publish OpenAPI reflexively and has not yet learned to govern it, prove it, or bind it for agents. The full report reads that signal company by company: the practice-area decomposition, the Kin Score facet-by-facet, the twelve-dimension agent-readiness table with the derived-versus-hosted tell, the head-to-head against ten rival funds, and the punch-list of what even the crown jewels have not shipped.
