About this paper

Palo Alto Networks ranks 20th of 932 Fortune 1000 companies on AI investment, 9.1× the median, and its spending profile is exactly what you would hope from a security company that means it: Security at the 99.5th percentile, Containers at 99.4, Observability at 99.1, CNCF at 98.9. This is an account where budget is already moving in the places a technical vendor sells into.

Its public API surface scores 68.8 on the Kin Score, twelfth in a 38-company cohort whose mean is 53.9, and it is genuinely the company’s own work: 314 contracts covering 6,024 operations, harvested from the repository Palo Alto publishes them in, 94.6% of them declaring a callable server.

The useful part is what those 314 contracts do not cover. Palo Alto publishes specifications for Prisma Access, Prisma Cloud, Strata Cloud Manager, SD-WAN, CSPM, IoT, Cloud NGFW, DLP and more — and nothing for Cortex. Cortex XDR, XSIAM, XSOAR and Xpanse appear in 245 of the company’s own job postings, more than any technology except the hyperscalers. It is the line they are hiring hardest around and the one you cannot design an integration against from the outside.

Every technology carries the number of the account’s own postings it was found in and the term it matched on, so any claim can be checked or discarded. The complete machine-readable data bundle ships alongside the narrative.
